Podcasts for 4-Year-Olds
A free story podcast that works for four-year-olds: short, silly, song-heavy adventures with nothing frightening in them and no plot to keep track of between episodes.
What four-year-olds get out of it
At four, the songs and the characters do most of the work and the plot does very little. That is fine — these episodes are built so the silly bits stand on their own. A vegetable rock concert, a bouncy ball that bounces to the moon, a narwhal leading a ukulele festival, a snow globe with a blizzard in it: none of them require holding a thread for fifteen minutes to enjoy.
Most four-year-olds latch onto one character early — often Peanut Butter Jim — and follow them.
Attention span, honestly
Episodes run 10 to 20 minutes and plenty of four-year-olds will not sit still for all of one. They do not have to. Nothing is lost by stopping halfway and starting the same episode again tomorrow, and repeat listening is normal here — the songs are usually why.
Nothing scary
No jump scares, no peril, and no episode that ends unresolved. Some of the worlds sound spooky — Monster Valley, the Spooky Woods — and the point of each of those stories is that the scary thing turns out to be friendly. If you want to be sure, start with the vegetables.
