Podcasts for 5-Year-Olds

A free story podcast for five-year-olds — imaginative 10–20 minute adventures with original songs, built around the exact things a five-year-old is currently working out.

Why five is the sweet spot

Five is the age where a child can hold a whole story in their head for fifteen minutes and still wants a talking jar of peanut butter in it. That is precisely what this show is. It is also the age where the social stuff gets real — sharing, taking turns, the first day somewhere new, someone bigger taking the good spot at recess — and those are the plots, not the background.

Starting school, starting camp

If there is a first day coming up, The Big Bayou Boogie is the one: Nathan is nervous about the first day of summer camp and worried he will not know anybody. The Mushroom Jelly Jam covers bigger kids taking over the handball court. Both do the useful thing of not pretending it will be easy.

The monsters are safe

Five is often when monsters arrive. The Grumpus of Monster Valley starts with Nathan worried about monsters after a spooky cartoon and ends at a dance where every monster is invited — which is a more useful shape than being told there is nothing under the bed.
