Danielle, and the dragons of Blublablu
Danielle is a golden dragon and, by some distance, the largest friend Nathan has. She lives around Blublablu, the cloud island above the Nunjaku rainforest, in the company of ninja apes and a very serious cat called Sensei Jonko. Dragons in most children's stories are a problem to be solved.
Danielle is a neighbour: she gets lost, she needs help, she has opinions about how the golden egg should be looked after. The stories she appears in are the ones about patience and practice — Nathan is usually somewhere in the middle of learning karate when she turns up — so the dragon is less a monster than a very large reminder that the calm thing and the strong thing are often the same thing.
