What's up there in the nighttime universe

Space in these stories is not cold and empty — it is busy. Lunar Landing is the moon's only amusement park, staffed by cheese people including Cheddar Cheese Chelsea and Little Boy Brie, and it has the queues to prove it. Higher up, the Night Sky hosts the Cloud Cruiser Grand Prix, where flying racecars thread through loops of lightning with Zippy Stardash in the lead and Baron Bolt cutting corners behind her.

Further out again is Space Planet 9, where two robots named Carrol and Jerrol are extremely serious about the safety line. Space is the setting these stories reach for when the feeling is bigness — a diving board that looks too high, a rule that seemed pointless until you understand it, a brand-new bouncy ball that has gone somewhere you cannot follow.

It is a long way from home, which is exactly why it works.
