Where the funny comes from
The premise is already a joke: a boy's best friend is a talking jar of peanut butter named Peanut Butter Jim, who turns up at bedtime and takes him somewhere ridiculous. From there the comedy is mostly world-building played completely straight — a wild west town where every cowboy is a worm, an amusement park on the moon staffed by cheese, a queen called Lactose the Tolerant, a dragon named Danielle.
Nothing winks at the grown-ups and nothing is gross for its own sake. The other half of the funny is the songs: every episode ends with an original one written for that story, and they are the bit kids sing in the back of the car three weeks later.
